The Youth Choir AKSION of The Orthodox St. Nicholas Cathedral in Bialystok (Poland) was founded in 1988 with blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Sawa, now the Metropolitan of Warsaw and All Poland. The first conductor and the founder of the choir was Protodeacon Bazyli Dubec and since 1988 it has been Protodeacon Aleksander Lysynkiewicz. The group consists mostly of secondary and high school students and the working youth. First of all the choir sings during services in the St. Nicholas Cathedral; likewise often gives concerts outside-the temple, taking part in:
- The Orthodox Evenings with Carols in the Bialystok Philharmonic
- The World Festival the Hajnowka Orthodox Church Music Days, winning first prize in the cathegory of city parish choirs many times
- The Days with Orthodox Music in Bialystok.
The choir made many radio and television records. It also participated in The Days of Sacral Music in Rzeszow (1994), in the centenary of The Orthodox Church in Bialowieza (1995), during ecumenical meetings - with the pope John Paul II in Drohiczyn (2000), in The Easter Mystery in the St. Thomas Church in Warsaw (2000), in The Three Cultures Festival in Wlodawa (2001) and many more.
In 2001 the choir recorded and published its first CD record with Orthodox carols "Diwnaja Nowina".
In 2003 the choir won the first place in The World Festival the Hajnowka Orthodox Church Music Days 2003 and the 2nd place in the 6th Choral Festival in Lodz "Cantio Lodziensis".
